Recommendations from people who actually bought the thing.
Own Use Love does two things. It lets regular people make a little money recommending the products they use. And it gives everyone else a way to find good stuff without fighting through ads to get there.
Shopping online got worse
Search a big store for a toaster and the first screen is mostly sponsored listings. Brands pay to be there. Below them are look-alike products from brands with multi-consonant names you’ve never heard of and review counts you can’t trust. Even if you search for the exact brand name of that toaster, you’ll still see all this ensh*ttified stuff first. We’ve all been there. It's annoying. E-commerce was supposed to be convenient and "frictionless".
So you search the web instead, and find “best toaster” roundups written to rank in search results, surrounded by more ads. Or you ask social media, and get a celebrity or an influencer who received the product for free and was paid to act excited about it before they even opened the box.
None of these people have made toast with the thing.
What you’ll find here instead
Small storefronts, each run by one person. The rule is simple: list what you own, use, and love, and explain why in your own words.
No sponsored slots. No paid placements. No “best of” rankings. We don’t sell ads and we don’t take money from brands. Our income is the $5 a month storefront owners pay, which means the only people we work for are the ones who actually own, use, and love the product.
It’s the same thing you’d get by asking a friend who cooks, or camps, or works part-time as an aesthetician and always has radiant skin what they’d buy.
Get paid for advice you already give away
If you’ve ever told a friend which vacuum to buy, you’ve done this for free. Here, you can earn something for it.
Sign up for a store’s referral program, add your links to your storefront, and when someone buys through one, the store pays you a commission. It goes straight to you. We don’t take a cut.
Promote your unique store through your own social media channels or any way you want. The first 30 days are free with no credit card, then it’s $5 a month.
To be straight with you: this is pocket money, not a career. It’s a small reward for something you’d do anyway.
Yes, people earn from their links
The key difference between us and the “there’s one clear winner now” sites is that the person who recommends the product actually bought it with their own money, used it, and decided it satisfied them to the point where they would recommend it to their friends. Earning a commission from that recommendation is the icing on the cake, not the main reason anyone lists their products here.
Since nobody can pay to be ranked higher, no link gets more attention just because it pays better.
